Details of Kshethram:Moolavar: Vijayaraghava Perumal Thayaar: Maragathavalli Thayaar Vimanam: Vijayakoti Vimanam Pushkarani: Jatayu Theertham Travel: This kshethram is located 11 kilometers from Kanchipuram on Katapadi road.

Azhwar  Pashuram: Tirumangaiazhwar: 2 Pashurams Sthala Puranam:

During the Ramayana period when Ravana abducted Devi Sita and started to fly away in the Pushpaka Vimanam, a vulture by the name Jatayu stood in his way and put up a valiant battle against Ravana until Ravana cut of Jatayu's wings causing him to fall in the Panchavati forest. Jatayu held on to his life till he could see Lord Rama and tell him what had perspired so far. After relaying the information of Devi Sita's kidnapping to Lord Rama, Jatayu lost his life. Lord Rama is then supposed to have cremated Jatayu offering him salvation(moksham). The Lord here is holding Jatayu on His lap to cremate him.

***A peculiarity of this kshethram is Sridevi Thayaar and Bhudevi Thayaar have interchanged places ie; Bhudevi Thayaar is on the right and Sridevi Thayaar is on the left. When one sees Sridevi Thayaar here, they can observe that she is standing about two feet behind the Lord as She was unable to handle the heat of the pyre.

On new moon day (Amavasya) pilgrims congregate here to this kshethram to perform tharpanam(rites to the departed souls).

In this temple, barren women receive the prasadam of roasted lentils soaked in water. While taken home, it is believed, that if the lentils sprout they will beget children.
