Details of Kshethram:Moolavar: Imayavarappan Thayaar: Sengamalavalli Thayaar Vimanam: Jagajyothi Vimanam Pushkarani: Tiruchitraaru Travel: This kshetram is in Chengannur near Kottayam in Kerala.

Azhwar Pashuram: Namazhwar : 11 Pashurams *** This is the second Pancha-Pandava Kshethram. This temple was established by Yudhishthira. Thus, this temple is referred to as Dharmaputra Prathista Kovil. Sthala Puranam:During the Mahabharatha war, on the fifteenth day of the war,

Bheema and Drishtadyumna attacked Dronacharya in full fury but it had no avail. Drona still had many divine weapons left in his Astra-Bhandara and then Krishna came up with a plan wherein Drona would drop his weapons voluntarily thereby presenting the opportunity to the Pandavas to kill Drona. Krishna told Bheema to kill an elephant named Ashvatthama and then told everyone on the battlefield to announce that Ashvatthama is dead. As instructed, Bheema immediately killed Ashvatthama the elephant and all the warriors on the Pandava army started screaming saying Ashvatthama is dead. When these words were heard by Drona, he was in disbelief. He immediately went to Yudhisthira and asked if what all the warriors were saying was true or not. Yudhisthira was put in a spot at that moment. He went into deep thought as to how to relay the information. He says अश्वत्थामाहत: which translates to Ashvatthama is dead. As soon as he had lied, the chariot which always used to hover four inches above the ground immediately fell to the ground. Drona was heartbroken and laid down his arms and renounced war. He took to a yogic stance and prayed to Lord Vishnu and told Karna to take charge of the army and protect Duryodhana.

As soon as Drona had laid down his arms, Drishtadyumna came and beheaded Drona.

It is said that

Yudhisthira

came to this kshethram, bathed in the Chitraaru river, and performed tapas to the Lord here. The Lord appeared in front of

Yudhisthira

and gave him atonement for his sin of lying to Dronacharya.

*** An interesting point that can be seen here is that the Lord holds the Panchajanyam in the right hand and Sudharshanam in the left hand.
