Azhwar Pashuram:Namazhwar: 11 Pashurams Tiruumangaiazhwar: 1 Pashuram Total: 12 Pashurams Sthala Puranam:The legend has it that Vishnu in the Mohini avataram distributed the celestial nectar Amritam to the Devas, and hence this place is also called Mohanashetram. It is also believed that Pulastya Muni performed tapas at this kshethram to have children. This Lord is believed to guide souls who have left the blazing body in the venture of Vaikuntham. The Lord is said to throw water like a ( cloud ) every step of the way so that the road to Vaikuntham is cool.

The worship of Chakrathazhwar at this kshethram is very important as He is believed to remove any hurdles in one's life or in the journey to Vaikuntham. Devotees who come to this kshethram without fail take home with them a  which consists of the imagery of the Lord along with the Sudharshana Mantram engraved on to a copper or brass plate.
