Legend has is that Kalyana Jagannatha Perumal is said to have been here at this kshethram even before Dasharatha had come with Kaikeyi to conquer South India. It is said that Dasharatha performed tapas to this Lord to have children.
Legend tells that Lord Rama reached the seashore where Vibhishana performed .
